Founded in 2021, SMART ROOF specializes in the production of flat roof sensors by roofers for roofers to make roofs more sustainable and smartly connected.
The product that Mr. Christoph Schendel will be presenting at the trade fair stand is a flat roof moisture sensor called RoofWatcher. It is installed in the flat roof and a transmission unit transmits the moisture measurement data and temperature to the data portal. The system is a plug and play solution, can be retrofitted at any time and is equipped with batteries and a SIM card. It can be easily installed and put into operation by any roofer. The roofer has the advantage of not needing any great knowledge of network construction, he installs the RoofWatcher, registers with his smartphone and has all the data visible in his portal.
The RoofWatcher measures moisture in the roof layer package, i.e. in the insulation material, which loses its effectiveness as soon as moisture enters. The sensor sends an alarm e-mail as soon as moisture penetrates the insulation material. The roofer then knows that action is required. He can then immediately prevent the thermal insulation from becoming so damp that permanent damage occurs. Timely action gives the roof a longer life cycle. There are various ways of drying a roof: technical and natural, such as solar power. The sensor logs and measures the re-drying process until it is completely dry.
The RoofWatcher also helps in the case of a green roof. The measurement can be used to determine whether the roof is really tight. Even if the roof looks good on the inside and does not drip, this does not automatically mean that it is completely leak-proof. The device can also be used to delimit warranty cases very well. If a subcontractor, for example the green roof installer, applies his green mats to a newly installed, intact roof waterproofing, the green roof will also last longer.
