The history of the family-owned company ANTE Holz began in 1927 with a very small regional sawmill in Winterberg in North Rhine-Westphalia. Today, with over 1400 employees in Germany and Poland, it is one of the largest owner-managed family companies in the European timber industry. Six of the now 7 locations are in Germany, the seventh in Poland. The largest site is located in Allendorf, the next largest in the southern Harz region. The more labor-intensive house and garden products are manufactured at the Polish plant. The youngest child near Stuttgart is involved in the production of pellets.
Even today, ANTE Holz still sees itself as a traditional sawmill. The wide range of products includes sawn timber, planed timber, glulam, solid structural timber, cross-laminated timber, wood pellets as well as house and garden products. The wood taken from the forest is 100% processed according to the zero-waste principle. In addition, ANTE Holz is environmentally friendly and self-sufficient with its own power plants for energy and heating; all surplus from production is fed into the community.
Another concern of the company is the reforestation of forests from which wood has been extracted. The company offers many solutions for modern sustainable timber extraction and traditional timber construction. It is internationally positioned with sales in over 40 countries, with Germany being the largest single market with 50%.
All production facilities are certified, including the plant in Poland. In many markets in which ANTE Holz is active, certification is mandatory, for example in France or the USA. Certifications such as PEFC, FCS up to date and sustainable management are a matter of course in ANTE Holz's corporate philosophy.
