With 48 locations, Melle Gallhöfer Dach GmbH is Germany's leading roofing materials dealer. The company is currently specializing in photovoltaics so that roofing customers and roof tradesmen can market more photovoltaics themselves.
At the exhibition stand, we can see the highlight of our partner Megasol. It is the Level Standard module as an in-roof system. Melle Gallhöfer believes that the future of roofing materials does not belong to tiles and roof tiles, but to photovoltaic-integrated roofs. The module presented has hail protection class 5, is very resistant to snow, which was tested in snowy Switzerland, and is very solidly built with seals and aluminum. All in all, a very stable construction for the roof.
In principle, this design requires more material than normal roof tiles plus photovoltaic system. However, the faster processing time means that this solution is cheaper. In addition, photovoltaics are currently exempt from VAT, so the roof covering is not subject to VAT. The insulation lies under the photovoltaic modules. A sub-roof is built in the same way as is usual for roof tiles and roof tiles, i.e. with insulation between the rafters and insulation on top of the rafters.
Germany is in the midst of an energy transition. More and more electricity will be needed in the future. Therefore, in 10 years' time, every newly built house will be covered with photovoltaics, and there will no longer be any alternative roofing options.
