Fleck: Roof Accessories for Efficient Installation

Participation in the Dach+Holz 2024 trade fair in Stuttgart is a first for FLECK. At the stand, Mr. Peter Nowack, Senior Product Manager / Application Technology at Fleck GmbH, informs us about the innovations for roofers and carpenters. The company offers a wide range of products for the pitched roof, flat roof and solar segments. The traditional company has been producing everything near Recklinghausen in Germany for over 65 years. The products are also developed at this location and manufactured with a very high level of vertical integration, ensuring reliable delivery capability at all times.

Innovative mounting solutions for solar, photovoltaic and solar thermal energy

Installation solutions for solar, photovoltaic and solar thermal systems are demonstrated on a small roof model. FLECK specializes in the reproduction of roof tiles, which are equipped with the corresponding support systems. This makes it possible to mount almost any rail system on these roof tiles and thus make the modules easy to fix. FLECK offers over 250 roof tile models. The special thing about it is that it can be installed independently of the rafters, i.e. it is not dependent on the rafter fields. The FLECK method goes between the rafter bays and can therefore pull the supports far apart. This is particularly good for the horizontal installation of modules, as the roof tiles can be placed where the modules are clamped. Another positive aspect is that this enables a very flat structure. In addition, the whole thing can be protected by a PV bird stop, which prevents cavity-nesting birds from going under the system. In detail, we also see a solar support pan without a rail mounting system.

ECO FORM: lead sheet replacement made from recycled polyvinyl butyral

At the back of the stand, FLECK will be demonstrating a new lead sheet replacement product made entirely from recycled raw materials. The basic raw material comes from laminated glass, which is processed with a very high-quality film to manufacture products for roof waterproofing. There are various passageways on the roof tiles for cables and pipes. This is also feasible for large pipes and horizontal roof penetrations. What sets this system apart from those of its competitors is that FLECK's system does not require the adjacent roof tiles to be machined, as the company reproduces the original roof tiles and uses them to make small and large vents and penetrations. A very large forced ventilation fan with rotor, which starts up at 1 m/sec and then draws air from the air chamber in the flat roof area below with negative pressure, is impressive. If this part is combined with an expansion fan or a normal cold exhaust fan, these areas can be kept dry in the long term.

Flat roof gooseneck with flap element to protect against the weather

Mr. Nowack also presents various new products such as the gooseneck with a hinged element. The special thing about this is that the cable is practically pushed through and folded down. Once this has been done and the cable has been adjusted, the flap can be closed until it clicks into place so that it can no longer be opened by storms or birds. A successful, durable weather protection!

Flange products made from polypropylene for greater sustainability

There is also news in the area of flange products. They are now also manufactured in polypropylene. This material can be welded directly to FPO and TPU membranes. This means that liquid plastic is no longer necessary. FLECK also offers many products in its portfolio that can be pressed into roof tiles. However, for components that are not pressed, the company works with polypropylene as well as PVC. These products have been tried and tested for decades and can therefore be considered sustainable. They have a very high resistance to weathering and ageing. They also have an attractive appearance. A service life of 40 to 50 years on the roof is proof of sustainability. The high-quality lead replacement product Ecoform, made entirely from recycled raw materials, also stands for sustainability. FLECK continues to search for sustainable products for the market. The company lives sustainability internally by granulating the waste from the plastic products it manufactures and reusing it for production in a closed cycle.
