Bauhaus Gropius works with external designer Daniel Eldner, who has already worked for well-known brands such as WMF, Cappelini and many others, to produce watches with a connection to the Bauhaus. He designs the Walter Gropius watches from A to Z, from the case to the dial to the hands - all according to the specifications and ideas of the Bauhaus style and in homage to Bauhaus artists.
Bauhaus Gropius watches are not trend watches, they have a certain design claim and a certain design language. They are produced in the company's own watch manufactory in Würzburg, where the service is also carried out. The new "Chicago 1937 New Bauhaus" series will take center stage at Inhorgenta 2024. The name goes back to the history of the Bauhaus. Walter Gropius founded the Bauhaus in Weimar in 1919; during the Nazi regime, the Bauhaus in Germany was closed and the Bauhaus members had to flee. This led to the founding of the Bauhaus in Chicago in 1937.
The "Chicago 1937 New Bauhaus" series pays tribute to history with its design. A small extra hand at the end of the hour hand ensures that Chicago time can always be read at the same time in our time zone. The series is available in 4 limited editions of 100 pieces each. The model with sapphire crystal in a very flat design, made in Germany, and a genuine leather strap is now being presented at Inhorgenta 2024. The watch straps have an easy release system so that customers can easily change the strap themselves in the store, for example from a genuine leather strap to a Milanese strap. The key data of the "Chicago 1937 New Bauhaus" model are as follows: A very flat 38 mm case as a unisex model for men and women to wear alike, blued hands, very clear design, retail price 295 euros for the limited editions, the unlimited editions are priced at 275 euros. The new "Chicago 1937" series attracted a great deal of attention and was very well received at Inhorgenta.
The "Atrium" collection is also entirely in the familiar Bauhaus style. These watches work with an automatic movement from SEIKO. The idea for the design of the "Atrium" is based on the design of the famous chapel created by Le Corbussier in Ronchamps, France. The building has become famous for its colorful glass blocks. The three-layered, very elaborate dial of the Atrium models echoes the color and square shape of the glass blocks. The transparent case back allows a view of the automatic movement. The straps on these watches can also be easily changed using the easy release system. Two years ago, this design received the world's oldest design prize from Chicago, the good design award. The watch is made of stainless steel and retails for 595 euros.
