Stefanie Mändlein: The visionary trade fair director behind Inhorgenta

Situation and development of Inhorgenta after Corona

Messe TV was able to talk to Stefanie Mändlein, Exhibition Director Inhorgenta, at Inhorgenta 2024 about the situation and the development of Inhorgenta after Corona. She reflected on the turbulent times we are living in and how lucky we are to have overcome the global coronavirus pandemic. In conversation, she expressed her delight at the growth of the jewelry, watch and gemstone fair in Munich in 2023 and now again in 2024 with an increase in exhibitors of 9%, half of whom come from abroad. Ms. Mändlein can state for Inhorgenta 2024 that luxury is booming in the 6 halls with their 6 segments.

The highlights from 50 years of Inhorgenta

Of course, glamor has always been the focus of attention in half a century of trade fair history. Big stars such as Peter Ustinov and Udo Jürgens or, more recently, Nadja Auermann have always enriched Inhorgenta, whether at an exhibitor's stand or as part of the trade fair program. Since the beginnings of the trade fair on the Theresienwiese 50 years ago, development has not stood still. Six exhibitors from the very beginning, who will still be taking part in Inhorgenta in 2024, remember those days well. In the meantime, the number of exhibitors has multiplied and new segments have been created; fortunately, the craftsmanship as well as the tradition and history that characterize the industry have remained the same. The move from the old to the new exhibition grounds in 1998 represented a major step in the development of Inhorgenta in terms of state of the art, facilities, security and, in particular, infrastructure.

The trends at Inhorgenta 2024

According to Ms. Mändlein, the moods in the various segments differ subtly from one another. The luxury segment, for example, plays with the theme of creoles in 2024; they are everywhere. The theme of balls is also well represented, and the jury had to deal with many themes from flora and fauna in the applications for the award. The overall picture of the various segments revealed different priorities in terms of trends, depending on the luxury or lifestyle or watches and jewelry segments.

The highlights of Inhorgenta 2024

The 50th anniversary of Inhorgenta in 2024 will clearly be the focus with six special shows. One of them, infinite reflections, will focus on the history of jewelry over 5000 years. Ms. Mändlein sees this magnificent piece, a 5000-year-old piece of jewelry from Mesopotamia, as her own personal highlight. As far as products are concerned, she considers an emerald necklace worth around 12.5 million euros in Hall B1 to be her personal highlight.
