The Dr. Hinkel winery in Framersheim, Rheinhessen, is now in its 18th generation. At ProWein 2024, the young winemaker Peter Hinkel presents the long-established family business in the current zeitgeist. Alcohol-free wine Dri.Ver! Sparkling is not just a dealcoholized wine

The range of grape varieties grown by the family-run winery in Rheinhessen is dominated by Riesling and Burgundy grapes, on which the estate's Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc wines are based. Regional grape varieties such as Huxelrebe and Scheurebe are extremely important to Hinkel because they show where the winery comes from and what it stands for. The absolute star at ProWein is Hinkel's non-alcoholic Dri.Ver! Sparkling, a cuvée of Riesling and Sauvignon blanc, which is a must-try. It takes "alcohol-free" to a whole new level; it is not simply a dealcoholized wine, but a blend with verjus, a sour grape juice. This brings a great, sweet acidity to the glass, which ensures a full mouthfeel and lingering finish.

Winegrowers should be open to this. For quality-oriented winegrowers, it is a task to produce alcohol-free wines that consumers enjoy. De-alcoholized wines are a different product to wines with alcohol content. However, if you are open to the offer, alcohol-free Dri.Ver! is a pleasure to drink and enjoy.

A young, health-conscious target group loves non-alcoholic wines

The target group for non-alcoholic wine is significantly younger, hipper and more health-conscious than the traditional wine drinker.
