Almost everyone loves a good wine. Comedian and parodist Max Giermann has also discovered and deepened his love of wine. As a result, he and his friend Thomas Walz will be able to present 4 products at ProWein 2024 for the first time. The comedian from Cologne and the winemaker from the Markgräferland region are united by their roots in Baden.
The wines of the GIER line prove to be uncomplicated and "easy drinking", typically dry Baden wines in terms of style. It is important to the parodist not to have a wine that claims to be "super fancy", but an accessible wine. After all, he does not see himself as a mega-expert in wine. Winemaker Thomas Walz emphasizes that Max Giermann's wines should have their own style right from the start - his own. He has a very special way of approaching and dealing with wine. The Giermann wines have their own power and intensity, while the winemaker's wines are somewhat leaner and fruitier.
This leads to great contrasts, which can be clearly seen in the rosé. Max Giermann's rosé wine is floral with a lovely strawberry aroma, while the winemaker's is somewhat crisper, leaner and fresher. Mr. Giermann reveals that the two friends find the taste together, with the comedian sometimes having the last word. However, he does not lend a hand in the vineyard, as he believes he would only get in the way. He does, however, like to take a peek into the cellar. His job is to help create the brand and develop the taste of the wine. For example, he designed the label for the Crémant.
