The ADAMS winery from Ingelheim in Rheinhessen stands for Burgundy wines. This grape variety thrives particularly well on the extremely calcareous soils of the Ingelheim vineyards. Ms. Simone Adams, who is the 5th generation to work at the winery, explains to us at ProWein 2024 that the company has focused on Pinot Noir in particular for red wines and Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and above all Chardonnay for white wines. Ms. Adams is looking forward to continuing to run the winery and taking things forward.
At ProWein 2024, the ADAMS winery will be presenting its first sparkling wine, which was aged on the lees for four years and produced using the traditional champagne method. In addition, two Pinot Noir sites will be presented, which represent the town of Ingelheim. Whether from Germany or France - sparkling wine is always popular. This was the deciding factor for the ADAMS winery to venture into production itself because of the chalky vineyards. The result, says Mrs. Adams modestly, makes her quite happy. It goes in the direction of champagne, very oxidative like a champagne cuvée with Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc at the start, matured in wooden barrels, so that the sparkling wine takes on a more oxidative brioche note and shows an interplay of umami and has a beautiful clear acid structure.
ADAMS wines appeal to wine professionals who like to drink Pinots, but are also well versed in the champagne and sparkling wine sector and would like to source corresponding wines from Germany. The ADAMS winery is also distinguished by the fact that it works by hand in great detail, looks into the vineyard with open eyes and puts a lot of thought into soil management, which they have converted to biodynamics. The aim is to maximize the origin and variety in the bottle of wine.
