The special thing about the Kleber Kolling winery from Sommerloch on the Nahe has been its organic focus for 10 years. At ProWein 2024, Mr. Jonathan Kolling explains to us that in addition to the enjoyment factor, the winery attaches great importance to biodiversity in the vineyards.
Viticulture is known to be a monoculture, but there is still the possibility of working with biodiversity. It is not necessary to use the entire area to plant the vines; there is enough space between the rows of vines to work with biodiversity and thus support nature. Mr. Kolling brought a 2021 Steinrossel Riesling to ProWein 2024, which he is particularly proud of. It is now wonderfully mature, still dewy and very present. On the palate, it is characterized by ripe fruit notes of peach with a hint of quince. You can taste the ripeness on the tongue. This will appeal to wine connoisseurs who know their way around and appreciate a good drop.
The Kleber Kolling winery differs from other winegrowers in its organic approach. Not every winery works organically. As the owner of the small, family-run business, Jonathan Kolling has everything from the grape to the bottle in his own hands.
