How does a winegrowers' cooperative work? At ProWein 2024, the managing director of the Bischoffinger Winzerecke winery in the Kaiserstuhl region of Baden, Mr. Thomas Weiler, introduces us to the workings of the winegrowers' cooperative. The grapes are harvested by several winegrowers together and the cooperative vinifies the wines. This means that the individual winegrower does not press his own wine, but nevertheless receives a wine from his vineyard together with that of his neighbors.
In 2024, the Bischoffinger Baden winegrowers' cooperative will have classics such as Pinot Gris on its stand. The cooperative can also offer new products such as Piwi wines. The term Piwi stands for fungus-resistant wines. A topic that will occupy all winegrowers in the coming years in the course of sustainability. Various grape varieties trade under this term. Bischoffingen focused on the two special grape varieties Souvignier gris and Muscaris
The result is a very beautiful, delicately fruity cuvée. The new Piwi cuvée from Bischoffingen is particularly easy to drink. Fruity and lighter overall, it appeals to a target group that focuses on young, uncomplicated drinking.
