The painter Petra Holasek will be presenting her work at ARTMUC 2024 - a trade fair for contemporary art. The works of the artist from Graz can be admired at the GALARTERY fine art stand. Holasek is a student of Professor Hermann Nitsch. However, unlike her radical teacher, she does not create her paintings with liquids such as blood, but prefers to use spray and acrylic paints.
There is plenty to discover in the abstract paintings, which need some time to dry. One of the works on display shows a wild composition of eggs (goose eggs, because their shells are harder than chicken eggs) and lots of acrylic. The price for this is estimated at 3,900 euros. The original painting was the result of a creative process using an extra-long brush. In the process, Petra Holasek lays the canvas on the floor to break it into pieces. In this way, the painter achieves a lively and immediate effect in her paintings.
Also on display at the art fair in Munich are the so-called "Sackerln". Petra Holasek always uses them to herald a new creative phase. Like the imaginative pictures, the framed bags inspire with their dynamic and effortless style. The used shopping bags that serve as the Austrian artist's background come from various fashion stores. Before Holasek kisses the muse, she paints the carrier bags black. She then immortalizes the motif in the dark surface with a pencil of her choice - or her fingernail. Thanks to the quick-drying paint, her countless objects are the result of a spontaneous burst of productivity.
