Smart Home room concept - SIEGENIA
In recent years, Siegenia, which was founded in 1914 and is known for its fittings for windows and doors, lift and slide elements and decentralized ventilation systems, has shifted its focus to motorized solutions. The current focus is on the smart home sector with META. The markets of the company from the Siegerland region are the private residential sector with its house builders, renovators, refurbishers and tenants. The product range covers new installations, renovations, refurbishments and, increasingly, the DIY sector with products for retrofitting.
Trade fair highlight: Siegenia room concept studio full of smart functions
At the trade fair, Siegenia will be presenting central control systems in a room concept studio full of smart solutions that don't just consist of Siegenia components. A holistic, comprehensive smart home solution will be shown from the user's perspective. Everything to do with the façade, windows, doors, roof elements, heating and ventilation elements, lighting and motorized doors shows what a smart home can already look like today. A development similar to that of the once analog automobile. With the difference that most people still have to pull a key out of their pocket to enter their home after leaving their digitized vehicle. From the high-end vehicle back to the basics in the analog home, so to speak. Fortunately, the same is now possible in the home as in the smart car.
Mapping scenarios for the smart home
With regard to Smart Home, Siegenia does not think in terms of product levels, but in terms of scenarios such as Coming Home, Leaving Home, night cooling, central locking and the like. In the Coming Home scenario, for example, elements are moved to the tilt or open function, the front door opens automatically, the garage door closes, the ventilation systems go into automatic mode, the heating switches on, the awning extends and the roof blinds move back into the open position. In the Leaving Home scenario, the doors are locked, windows are locked, lifting/sliding elements are moved to the closed position, the heating switches off, the ventilation system goes into standby mode and the coffee machine switches off.
Voice control via Apple, Google, etc. - Mechanical operation always possible in an emergency
All of this can be controlled by voice control (Apple, Google, etc.), and conventional operation via smartphone app or tablet also works, of course. Conventional operation via buttons or switches is also possible at any time. Automatic features such as presence detection trigger scenarios automatically, in which case they no longer even need to be triggered manually. Siegiena's premise is to always retain mechanical operation in addition to the smart function. If there is a power or internet failure, the components can be operated mechanically in the conventional way. A key can still be used, a lever handle can be used and a window can be operated normally. Dependencies can also be created via the scenarios. If, for example, the window is open, the heating is shut down as a result. If the ventilation system detects poor air quality, the system can be operated in an automatic mode to save energy and no shock ventilation can take place. The aim is to use energy as efficiently as possible and not waste any.
