Meffert AG Farbwerke is a family-run company headquartered in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, specializing in the development and production of high-quality paints, varnishes, plasters and sealants. Since its foundation in 1947, the company has developed into one of the leading manufacturers in the European paint and coatings industry. With several production sites in Germany and abroad and a wide range of products, Meffert AG supplies customers in over 60 countries. The company places particular emphasis on quality, innovation and sustainability, supported by a certified quality, environmental and energy management system.
The "Next Generation facade" from Meffert is an innovative further development of external thermal insulation composite systems that combines classic thermal insulation with additional functions. The concept is based on the integration of photovoltaic elements, facade greening and species-friendly components into the insulation layer. In addition to the use of technical elements, particular emphasis is placed on sustainable materials, such as insulation panels made from local wood fibers, which offer an environmentally friendly alternative as a renewable raw material.
Special prefabricated plaster elements are integrated into the insulation layer to implement the functionalities. Despite a reduced insulation thickness in the relevant areas, the insulation performance is compensated for by high-performance materials such as aerogel or polyurethane panels. These materials ensure efficient thermal insulation, even at potential weak points. This ensures that the energy efficiency of the system remains at the highest level throughout.
Vertical facade greening is a central component of the system. In addition to aesthetic benefits, it helps to improve the microclimate and reduce CO₂ emissions. To make it easier to care for the plants, optional irrigation systems are integrated, which can be precisely controlled via timers. This efficiently regulates the water supply to the plants without burdening the façade.
A particular highlight of the "Next Generation facade" is the integration of nesting boxes for protected bird species and bats. These elements are developed in collaboration with the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) and individually adapted to the needs of the respective animal species. Different entrance openings ensure that specific bird species such as swifts or bats find suitable breeding sites. In regions where species protection is required by law, the system offers an innovative solution to meet ecological requirements.
The combination of thermal insulation, greening and species conservation measures makes the "Next Generation facade" a sustainable system. The use of sustainable materials and the possibility of subsequent recycling creates a closed raw material cycle. With this system, Meffert is setting new standards for environmentally friendly construction while meeting the highest standards of functionality and design.
