50 years of VAUDE: Sustainable outdoor equipment with tradition
VAUDE, founded in 1974 by Albrecht von Dewitz on Lake Constance, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The brand began with rucksacks and tents and has developed into a leading manufacturer of outdoor equipment and clothing. Antje von Dewitz has been managing the company since 2009 and is increasingly focusing on sustainability. VAUDE uses recycled materials, offers repair services and designs products such as the Brenta backpack, which is particularly well ventilated thanks to the Aeroflex system.
Climate neutrality and circular economy
VAUDE is climate-neutral and optimizes its supply chain to minimize its environmental impact. Over 80% of its products are made from recycled materials and the company aims to be fully circular. Clothing, such as the Scopi insulation jacket, is also made from 100% recycled polyester and is fully recyclable. VAUDE focuses on developing durable and repairable products to maximize the life cycle and minimize waste.
Innovative design for the future
Product development at VAUDE is based on close cooperation with fabric manufacturers in order to use the latest innovations in sustainable materials. For example, the Aeroflex 3D back system of the Brenta backpack has been redesigned to enable better ventilation and reparability. VAUDE is ready to adapt to upcoming EU Green Deal directives to continue pioneering sustainable outdoor products.
