The German Real Estate Association (IVD) is the central association for real estate consultants, brokers, property managers and experts. It offers its members extensive services such as legal advice, further training, templates and a strong network. The aim of the IVD is to represent the interests of the real estate industry and to ensure market transparency and a balance between the various players in the real estate sector. The association also supports its members with tools, certifications and industry-specific information.
The German Real Estate Association (IVD) plays a central role in the real estate industry, as it unites over 6,300 companies from the fields of real estate agents, experts and property management. The Expo Real trade fair is a must-attend event for many members and serves as an important platform for networking. Numerous colleagues and experts from the industry meet here to exchange ideas and expand their professional network. The IVD works closely with other major associations such as the ZIA, BFW and GdW and uses the opportunity to discuss political and economic issues with decision-makers.
Despite the industry's commitment, the IVD still sees major challenges due to political overregulation. It emphasizes that a return to the building and rental standards of 15 years ago would significantly stimulate the construction industry. A reduction in land transfer tax to 3.5% nationwide is seen as a key measure to ignite the "construction turbo". This would enable many people to invest more in the construction and purchase of real estate again. However, the current regulations and high standards are slowing down development.
Another topic that was discussed at Expo Real is the large number of standards and regulations that are slowing down the construction industry considerably. While the highest building regulations in the world apply in Germany, the regulation of rents is severely restricted at the same time, which is almost impossible to implement in practice. The IVD is calling for a relaxation of building standards and more flexibility in areas such as sound insulation and wall thicknesses, without compromising on statics or fire protection. This is the only way to stimulate the urgently needed housing construction. The association is appealing to politicians to pull together to drive forward the construction of new apartments. Every new apartment, regardless of price, helps to ease the pressure on the housing market.
