Traction Inverter from Onsemi: Efficient power for electric vehicles

Onsemi will be presenting its state-of-the-art traction inverters at the trade fair, which are already being used in vehicles on the road today. This technology converts the battery voltage into three-phase current to drive the electric motors. With four modules per vehicle, each generating 110 kilowatts of power, precise control of each individual wheel is made possible - an innovation that allows, for example, the impressive G-turn, in which the vehicle can rotate 360 degrees.

EliteSiC technology: optimized efficiency and range

At the heart of the modules is EliteSiC M2 technology, which offers maximum efficiency. This technology minimizes power losses to less than two kilowatts with an output of 110 kilowatts per module. This makes optimum use of the battery's energy, which increases the vehicle's range. With the further development of the M3e version, the power density has been doubled again, which means that up to 300 kilowatts are now possible with the same power loss.

Compact design and high power density

A decisive advantage of the Onsemi modules is their compact design. They enable a high power density per square centimeter, which is particularly advantageous in vehicles with limited space. This innovation makes it possible to achieve more power in less space while at the same time ensuring efficient heat dissipation. This reduces the amount of cooling required and contributes to a lighter, more energy-efficient vehicle design.

Pioneering technology for more power

The market trend in electromobility shows an increasing demand for more powerful systems. Onsemi meets this demand with its expertise in front-end technology and thermal management. The traction inverters not only enable higher power per module, but also help to optimize energy efficiency. With this technology, Onsemi is setting the standard for the next generation of electric vehicles that are not only more powerful, but also more sustainable.
