The "A" stands for "Air", because the V250A is an air-to-water heat pump. Viessmann is particularly proud of this product, as the Vitocal 250A was recently named the best heat pump currently available on the market by Stiftung Warentest (Stiftung Warentest, October 2023).

Vitocal 250-A: The best heat pump on the market?
The Vitocal 250-A, an air/water heat pump, was declared the best heat pump by Stiftung Warentest. It impresses with the use of a natural refrigerant such as propane, which has no global warming potential and offers high efficiency even at low outside temperatures. Another highlight of this heat pump is its extremely low sound pressure, which makes it virtually silent and therefore ideal for use in residential areas.
Modular storage systems and invisible heating solutions
Our modular cylinder systems, such as the Vitocell Modular, enable space-saving installation by arranging DHW cylinders and buffer cylinders on top of each other. These systems are particularly easy to install and offer heating engineers practical carrying aids. In addition, we offer the Vitocharge VX, a flexible battery storage system that can be ideally combined with PV systems and heat pumps. These systems enable efficient thermal and electrical storage in order to optimally control and store energy consumption.
