Almost everyone knows the phrase Evonik "We do it" from TV commercials. But what does Evonik actually do? Specialty chemicals. And where is it used? We talk about this with Doris Schmidt, Senior Vice President of Evonik Resource Efficiency GmbH at bauma 2019 in Munich.
Doris Schmidt is head of Evonik's Oil Additives business unit. Evonik produces a variety of viscosity modifiers for a wide range of oil applications. These are used in both the industrial and automotive sectors. Evonik thus delivers fuel efficiency for its customers. This also contributes to the sustainability and competitiveness of Evonik's customers.
The additives ensure that excavators can achieve more per unit of time and need less fuel at the same time. This makes direct customers and, in turn, their customers more competitive. The Oil Additives Business Unit is part of Evonik's Resource Efficiency Business Unit. Sustainability is a top priority. The technologies also have advantages for end consumers. Many people drive a private car. This car contains engine oils and transmission oils. The additives from Evonik ensure that these engine and transmission oils are more efficient, which means that less fuel is consumed and a car can drive further on the same tank of gas. Many consumers are not even aware of how many areas of the end products contain Evonik technology.
