Presenter Karen Webb, known to many as the presenter of Leute Heute, ML Mona Lisa and many other TV shows, was also a guest at the opening event of Inhorgenta 2016 in Munich. Messe.TV spoke to her about jewelry in general and which jewelry she personally likes to wear.
Karen Webb: To be honest, a woman's most beautiful piece of jewelry is her hair. Klas Bömecke: Karin, what have you seen so far - what was your impression? What is the must-have when it comes to jewelry? Karen Webb: I don't know if there is a must-have, the jewelry was very different. I mean there were long necklaces, there were short necklaces, there were discreet and also very large necklaces, bracelets, ... everything was there. I don't think there are any limits in any direction. Klas Bömecke: What do you particularly like? Karen Webb: I particularly like big necklaces. I also always wear jewelry for the show, it enhances an outfit. You don't see discreet ones on the show, but I really like wearing big ones and earrings too. Klas Bömecke: You also have beautiful ones on today, they sparkle a bit! Karen Webb: Yes. Bling Bling Bling - Swarovski may I say that today? Klas Bömecke: Of course! You don't always have to wear the expensive things! It looks good too. Now you see pictures of Hollywood people every day and see what they're wearing. They get a lot of jewelry from Hollywood jewelers and so on. What is a common must-have when it comes to the red carpet at the Oscars? Is it all the more splendid, all the more bling bling? Karen Webb: No, quite the opposite. They are very pared down, either it's a necklace that works, or it's a pair of earrings that works, or just a bracelet, but never earrings plus necklace plus bracelet and ring and whatnot, I mean that's just way too much. It's better to have less and let it work. Klas Bömecke: Is that also something you recommend to the normal woman who never goes on the red carpet? Karen Webb: Absolutely. I think if you have a big necklace and big earrings then it looks overloaded - I mean fine if you want to wear it all - but it's just too much. Then the individual piece no longer works, it's simply over the top. Klas Bömecke: What is your favorite piece of jewelry, what do you like to wear the most? Karen Webb: What I like to wear are necklaces and earrings. What I wear less are rings, for example, as they always get in the way of my writing and typing during the day. That's why I don't wear rings very often - except occasionally when I go out in the evening, but necklaces and earrings are my favorites.
Klas Bömecke: Now you don't like buying jewelry as much as having it given to you. What would be the next thing you would want? Karen Webb: Pieces of jewelry? Klas Bömecke: Yes, of course. Karen Webb: To be honest, it shouldn't be too expensive. I always feel quite uncomfortable. I was at the opening of the Berlinale yesterday and I had diamonds and other things on my ear, where I always think hopefully the stud won't fall off somewhere and be gone - I mean, you're insured and all that - but I don't feel comfortable when I have several hundred thousand euros on my ear. So it's better not to be too expensive, I just have to like it, that's the point. Klas Bömecke: What is it supposed to be - white gold, yellow gold? Karen Webb: Oh, I'm not restricted at all. Because my skin is a bit darker, I think silver suits me quite well. But gold too, rose gold. I'll just say what colors I can wear.
Klas Bömecke: So you can be happy with anything? Karen Webb: Yes! Klas Bömecke: That's nice. Thank you! Karen Webb: Thank you too. Official website of Karen Webb: www.karenwebb.de
