The Microlino is a real ball of joy. An electric car that requires little parking space - ideal for the city. And: you fall in love at first sight.
Klas Bömecke: That's a beautiful thing, such a cute ball! When you see it, you start to grin. You immediately fall in love. Wim Ouboter: Yes, it evokes a lot of emotions. And it was also called the Knutschkugel back then and was developed in Italy in 1955. We thought the time was right to revisit this idea! But this time it's electric. Klas Bömecke: Is it a fully-fledged electric car? Wim Ouboter: No, it's not a car. It's not a car. It's an L7e vehicle (light electric vehicle), which means it's in the same class as the Twizy. It's a light electric vehicle and that's a completely different story, which is why I always say 'This is not a car! But it's somewhere between a car and a motorcycle.
Klas Bömecke: Does that mean I don't need a driver's license? Wim Ouboter: Yes, you do need a driver's license, but it requires less space for parking. In terms of speed, it goes 90 km fast. The small battery is sufficient for a distance of 120 kilometers and 200 kilometers can be driven with the large battery. It's great fun to drive. Klas Bömecke: Great. Can I have a seat in it? Wim Ouboter: Of course! Klas Bömecke: Would you like to come and see me, I'd like to know. Ah. Wow! Great. I'll buy it! It's beautiful. I'm totally thrilled! Now I know why you're at the toy fair. This has the potential to become a toy for really big boys like me.
Wim Ouboter: That's right. We have already received 5,000 reservations and half of them are women. That's a good sign. But our vision for later is actually "better urban lifestyle". That's what we want to present with all the products we're showing here at the trade fair. Klas Bömecke: You can also see urban lifestyle over there. Not quite as spectacular, but still very smart. Wim Ouboter: That's right. We have a whole line of different products where you can put something on it and ride it. Here, for example, we call it Lazy Luggage. This is actually a normal trolley with an additional function to take out the legs. Et voilà, now the child can hold on to it, sit on it and put their feet on it. So you can pull the child through the airport. Klas Bömecke: Normally I only ever have either my suitcase or my child. At the airport, I don't have both at the same time.
Wim Ouboter: And if you have tired legs, you can just sit on it. Klas Bömecke: Like that? It can hold someone like me? Wim Ouboter: It's stable enough. Klas Bömecke: Great. It's very practical and well thought out and is also useful as a normal suitcase. Wim Ouboter: You can also remove the eyes with Velcro and then you have a normal style. Klas Bömecke: I liked it better before. Wim Ouboter: The eyes are better, yes. Klas Bömecke: The products all have a touch of humor and joie de vivre! Wim Ouboter: Yes, it has to be, because life is too short to be so serious. And it has to be fun. When you drive through the airport with these trolleys, you're in a good mood and it's fast too!
