Euroshop brings together the exhibition stand construction and shopfitting industry to present trends and innovations at the Düsseldorf trade fair. This year we are showing a selection of leading system manufacturers for exhibition stands and exhibition construction. Exhibition stand construction with modular systems is in demand and offers far more than just aluminum trusses that can be plugged together. Displays in all variations offer exhibiting companies the opportunity to present their brands at the trade fair stand in a high-quality manner. In our videos we take you with us to Euroshop 2020.
Although Euroshop 2020 suffered a 17% drop in visitor numbers due to the uncertain situation caused by the emerging coronavirus pandemic, the approximately 2,300 exhibitors from 17 nations in 16 exhibition halls described the event as a pleasing success. They are expecting good to very good follow-up business. Euroshop 2020 was one of the last major face-to-face trade fairs before the global coronavirus pandemic.
Euroshop, the world's leading trade fair for capital goods in the retail sector, takes place every three years at the Messe Düsseldorf exhibition center. From its inception in 1966 at the old exhibition center in Ehrendorf to today's event concept, Euroshop has undergone constant adaptation in response to changes in the retail sector, and this will continue in the future. Examples include the self-service concept in food retailing, which became increasingly popular in the mid-1960s, and the new retail concepts of discounters. By the beginning of the 2000s at the latest, the enormous developments in information technology made it necessary to redefine the areas of Euroshop's trade fair activities. With the restructuring in 2002, 4 areas were installed: EuroConcept for shopfitting, store design, lighting, refrigeration units and building technology, EuroSales for visual merchandising, POS marketing and display advertising, EuroExpo for architecture, design and events and EuroCIS for IT and security technology.
In 2020, many visitors focused in particular on the digital transformation in terms of maximum efficiency and sustainability, as well as 8 stages for best practice and lecture series that provided information on trends in the retail sector of the future. Euroshop is regarded as a trend barometer and platform for networking. Exhibitors attest to the trade visitors' high level of decision-making competence.
During the tour of the trade fair, the Messe.TV team was able to find out about innovations in trade fair and store fitting and interview leading system manufacturers such as Aluvision with its sustainable, modular trade fair system and its modular LED panels. In addition to modular systems and display systems, Best Systems also offers complete solutions for printing. The relatively young company Cornect won the German Design Award Special in 2019, while Duo Display offers complete solutions from design to the finished exhibition stand, including logistics. With the G40 Quick trade fair system from Gilnhammer, Messe.TV encountered an innovation, as did Matrix Systems with the new Matrix Connected. Octanorm also presented innovations. Mo Systeme created mobile rooms in the modular box system, while system manufacturer Syma presented a new glass balustrade as a highlight.
Overall, Euroshop 2020 offered many new innovative products and food for thought for the trade fair and shopfitting of the future.
